About Us

The Northern California Carpenters Regional Council is chartered and affiliated with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. The United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC), was organized in 1881. The UBC remains the largest and most progressive of all of the building trade unions in America.

As part of a nationwide effort to modernize and re-organize, the UBC chartered the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council (NCCRC) in June 1997. Throughout Northern California, the NCCRC is comprised of 29 local unions with more than 35,000 members and growing. The NCCRC is the central coordinating body providing direction and governing each local union.

The NCCRC is committed to innovative leadership and successful partnerships that deliver real business value, and has reorganized its structure to better work in an increasingly regional business environment. With shared resources and central coordination, local unions are more efficient, more responsive, more customer focused, more creative, yet just as competitive.

All that we do is aimed at making the construction industry better for everyone involved - - labor and management. That's why we consider ourselves "PARTNERS IN CONSTRUCTION."

UBC Pride - Setting Industry Standards

As Union carpenters, we follow a long tradition of craftsmanship and take great pride in our trade. We realize that our livelihood as individuals and our success as a Union are dependent upon an effective Hiring Hall. Our ability to provide signatory employers with qualified and competent workers is of utmost importance. The industry standards are high because as Union Carpenters we set those standards - - in workmanship, quality and professionalism. As you consider the effectiveness of this Union and our Hiring Halls, consider these UBC guidelines and commitments:

  • We only accept work for which we are qualified and can confidently perform.
  • We have the necessary hand tools and are prepared to go to work.
  • Upon accepting a work referral, we report directly to the jobsite.
  • Proper work clothing is essential; a neat and clean appearance is expected.
  • Working with a positive attitude, we give our best effort. We are ready, willing and able.
  • We work safely and efficiently to produce the highest quality of work.
  • We do not tolerate alcohol or illegal drugs on the jobsite.
  • All carpenter work is our work. Protecting our jurisdiction creates jobs.
  • Take responsibility for your own actions. Have faith and confidence in yourself and the Union.
  • We are a Brotherhood, lending a hand to help each other succeed.
